About me

    Hi ! I'm Hugo, a Junior Gameplay Programmer. I've always admired artists and their creations. That pushed me to take a path where I could be close to them. I had no artistic talent - I could not be like them - so I chose to help them make their creations come to life instead!

    I wore a lot of hats and I'm constantly learning new stuff depending of what the team needs. My goal is to get to a point where designers and artists have all the tools they need and focus on the game without having to worry on the technical side.

    Aside from work, I'm reading fantasy books, fighting with our cat and I'm trying to be a better cook. My everyday dream is an afterwork boardgame with beers.

Jungle Dunk, is all about being a mischievous little monkey, running around and stealing as many fruits as possible with your gang. Two teams of four players face each other for 6 minutes, with their only objective being to dunk as many fruits as possible in the central volcano. But other than that, there are no rules. Jungle Dunk matches are a chockfull of sneaky tactics, clever synergies and above all, pure chaos!
I learned so much with this project. On the technical side on Unreal Engine and the network programming. And on the management side, I achieved to execute my view on a project workflow. A lot of iterations and tests, slow but constant progress and great team communication.

NorthDash is a rogue-lite/action mobile game paced by simple and quick fights. Dive into a devasted Valhalla and brave hords of dead warriors to fight your way out of this hell. Block their attacks, fight back with your sword and harass them with arrows. Visit special places like the Fair or the Merchant to uprgrade your equipment to help you go further and learn more abour this ruthless world.
I worked on this 4-month project with another programmer where I learn a lot about working with other people on the programming side. I was responsible of several features like the level editor, the map generation, narrative tools and helped with the combat system.

Worked for Ankama's team

FouleKastagne is a small project we did for Ankama’s team working on their new IP: Waven. The objective was simple: make a prototype that would showcase a new feature for Waven in 2 weeks.
We had to recreate Waven from scratch (Board, Units, Abilities, Game flow). Then we integrated our feature: The crowd. The supporters watching the combat would react to players actions and even take part by throwing artisanal bombs into the arena.
This project helped me understand how powerful thinking ahead with UML diagrams was for the code and the organization. That is also the first time I worked strongly with State Machines.
